Custom Countertops

NATURAL STONE COUNTERTOPS

VERDICRETE - ENGINEERED CONCRETE COUNTERTOPS

Custom engineered concrete countertops are made of one of our most versatile materials. Concrete countertops can be made to fit any project. The concrete is poured into custom-built forms and cured in our shop. It is delivered and installed ready to use - no on-site fabrication. You may choose from a number of stock colors, or provide a color sample for a custom color match.

BENEFITS OF VERDICRETE CONCRETE COUNTERTOPS

  • Unlike stone, concrete can be made in any size or shape.
  • Very few field joints; we aim to build concrete projects in one piece whenever possible.
  • The construction is only limited by access to the project and being able to transport the concrete safely.

One of the most exciting characteristics of Verdicrete concrete countertops is that each slab is unique. The countertops will show slight variations in tone, color field, and texture. You may see some hairline or surface crazing, similar to the veins in stone. These cracks do not affect structural integrity and are considered to be a desirable design feature on concrete countertops.

Characteristics of Concrete Countertops:

  • Incredibly strong and easy to maintain.
  • With regular sealing, Verdicrete products are resistant to stains, water spots, and heat damage.
  • Can support overhangs up to 24" without additional support.
  • Consult your designer, architect, or builder to determine if your project needs any additional supports.
  • Larger overhangs can be constructed with external supports.
  • Steel reinforcements can be incorporated into your countertops according to your layout needs.

Verdicrete countertops are ready for light use at the time of installation. Be prepared to go easy on the tops for the first few weeks that it's in your home as the concrete continues to harden to its maximum strength.

BENEFITS OF GRANITE COUNTERTOPS

Granite has a rich beauty that few other countertop materials can match. It is a natural product with a timeless aura and appeal. Granite countertops take a high-quality kitchen to the next level visually and often become the centerpiece of the room. With more than 20 shades of granite to work with, you’ll find one that blends perfectly with your kitchen cabinets, flooring and walls.

Granite is a very hard substance and is not susceptible to scratches. While not ideal to work on because it will dull knife blades, it will take normal wear and tear very well. Granite resists heat too, so its use near a range or cooktop is ideal. When you have to set down a hot pan fast, granite can take the heat without being damaged or weakened. In the bathroom, placing a hair tool on it that is still warm won’t be a problem.

Granite can be very resistant to stains and won’t absorb liquids when it is properly sealed.

MARBLE COUNTERTOPS

Marble countertops are a premiere choice when it comes to creating a stunning kitchen. Marble is a versatile material that complements every kitchen décor, from modern to traditional styles. There are some distinct benefits for homeowners who chose marble countertops.

BENEFITS OF MARBLE COUNTERTOPS

Marble countertops are a premiere choice when it comes to creating a stunning kitchen. Marble is a versatile material that complements every kitchen décor, from modern to traditional styles.

One of the primary reasons to choose marble countertops is its wide variety of colors. Marble is available in black, gray, yellow, pink and green. There are some natural variations that cause some pieces to have a subtle pattern, while others feature prominent veins. Straight lines are typical of many kitchens, and the natural irregularity of marble can add the perfect contrast.

Even though there are many colors to choose from, white marble is the most popular choice in kitchen countertops. White marble looks great with a variety of styles and different materials. It offers a flexible finish too, from highly polished to a casual, honed finish. White marble in particular is a leading choice because etching is not as visible as it is on darker shades of marble.

BENEFITS OF QUARTZITE COUNTERTOPS

This is an amazing material. It is naturally strong, resists heat and is hard to stain. Quartzite is a very hard metamorphic rock that originated as sandstone. Through a process of high heating and pressurization sandstone is transformed into Quartzite, an extremely strong and durable natural stone. When heated, individual quartz pieces recrystallize giving it a beautiful and decorative sparkling pattern. Quartzite is ideal for any countertop surface due to its strength and long-lasting composition. Consider quartzite countertops for its strength, beauty, and overall durability.

However, there is a chance for etching to occur on its surface. Quartzite is considered an exceptional material for use in countertops. This can be literally found all over the world, as it is a very common material formed in the crust of the earth. You will notice the more sought after material originates in Brazil and India. The difference in price for the material in either slabs or tiles will be reflected through the availability of colors and location.

QUARTZITE COUNTERTOPS

Quartzite is a naturally occurring metamorphic rock. It is created when sandstone is subjected to extreme heat and pressure caused by tectonic plate compression in the crust of the earth. The stone is mined and sawn into slabs which are later precisely cut to become countertops. The tops are polished and sealed for beauty and durability.

SOAPSTONE COUNTERTOPS

This popular countertop material is a naturally occurring stone made mostly of mineral talc. Its composition is what gives it the smooth feel of soap. Some soapstone slabs may also contain quartz, which can be made evident by pronounced veining.

BENEFITS OF SOAPSTONE COUNTERTOPS

Highly durable – Although soft to the touch, architectural grade soapstone can last for decades and even centuries; some soapstone sinks and stoves from the 1800s still exist and function even today. The fact that centuries-old soapstone stoves still exist is testament to the material being impervious to heat. Soapstone’s neutral chemical composition also makes it impervious to the damage typically associated with acids from food like tomatoes and lemons.

Impervious to stains – Soapstone’s non-porous properties means it will never absorb liquids. It is also extremely dense, making it impenetrable by stains and bacteria without requiring the use of any kind of sealant.

All-natural – Soapstone is all-natural and contains no sealers or toxic chemicals of any kind. Once mined, it is simply cleaned up and trimmed to make it ready for use. It is strong, durable, and can be recycled completely, giving it a few extra brownie points for being a long-lasting “green” material.

COMPOSITE STONE COUNTERTOPS

BENEFITS OF SILESTONE QUARTZ COUNTERTOPS

Made from one of the hardest minerals on earth, quartz countertops are arguably the most durable option for kitchens. They're also some of the most eye-catching. They come in a wide variety of colors, including fire-engine red and apple green, as well as earthy browns, blacks, and creams, with sparkles and veining for the look of granite or marble. But unlike natural-stone slabs, which are mined, these slabs are engineered in a factory. Their primary ingredient is ground quartz (about 94 percent), combined with polyester resins to bind it and pigments to give it color.

For some designs, small amounts of recycled glass or metallic flecks are added to the mix. The resins also help make these counters stain and scratch resistant—and nonporous, so they never need to be sealed.

In the past, the biggest knock against quartz was that it lacked the patterns and color variations you get with natural stone. But that's a moot point now, with all the manufacturers offering multihued slabs with enough flecks, swirls, and random patterning to make them almost indistinguishable from the real thing. They were once available only with a polished finish; now you can get one with a honed, sandblasted, or embossed treatment. So if it's the look of matte limestone, textured slate, or glossy granite that you want, there's a quartz countertop for you.

Cambria quartz may be seen as a high-end option, but they actually save you more money because they are made of a resilient material that is easy to maintain and sanitary. It will help you eliminate the costs of maintenance or repair.

METAL COUNTERTOPS

BENEFITS OF ZINC COUNTERTOPS

  • Zinc is a reactive metal with a living finish.
  • Its blue-gray tone reflects a country charm and a casual elegance.
  • Zinc will acquire a patina and change with age and use.
  • This patina will take about a year to fully develop, and will continue to evolve throughout the life of the top.
  • We can create a patina in our shop prior to installation.
  • This patina finish will be darker than a natural patina, and will have a more even surface initially.
  • Like a natural patina, the patina finish is not permanent, and will continue to evolve and develop a pattern of use over time.

Zinc countertops are easy to maintain and clean. Daily cleaning can be done with Windex, or any other non-abrasive household cleaner.

ZINC COUNTERTOPS

Zinc countertops can provide both a classic and a modern look that combines the cool tone of stainless steel with the charm of a living metal surface. Commonly found in Parisian Bistros, oyster bars, and butler's pantries, zinc is a charming metal that adapts to any kitchen style.

STAINLESS STEEL COUNTERTOPS

Stainless steel countertops are a popular choice for modern kitchens. Once considered a material for professional kitchens or industrial and commercial settings, stainless steel is now used as a complement to classic or transitional spaces.

BENEFITS OF STAINLESS STEEL COUNTERTOPS

  • Used on its own, stainless gives off a modern feel and offers a uniform surface.
  • A low-maintenance metal countertop option for those who want to maintain a consistent surface.
  • Daily cleaning and maintenance is simple.  oUse Windex for daily cleaning, or a similar non-abrasive household cleaner.
  • To maintain the shine of the countertop, you can polish the surface using a product like Stainless Steel Magic.

Stainless steel is a very durable material. To prevent scratches or damage, we recommend using cutting boards for cutting and chopping, and trivets for oven-hot pots and pans.

There are a number of design options which can be incorporated into stainless steel tops:

  • Cutouts for sinks, cooktops, and hardware.
  • Integral sinks in a number of styles for a solid counter surface.
  • We can weld in a sink of your choosing.

We also offer a number of textures for stainless steel and metal countertops:

  • Brushed
  • Omni-Directional Brushing
  • Custom Grind Pattern
  • Machine Hammered Finish

BENEFITS OF PEWTER COUNTERTOPS

Pewter countertops have a cool silver tone. Its matte finish will form a gray patina. While similar to zinc, pewter is a softer and more malleable metal.

How does this malleability affect pewter tops?

  • The softness of the metal allows us to create curved shapes.
  • Slight imperfections and marks that are common to metal countertops will be more prominent.

Pewter counter and bar tops are not meant to present as a monolithic or monotone surface. The material has a 'living finish.' The finish will evolve over the lifetime of the countertops, and will form a patina over time.

  • The patina will take about a year to form.
  • For those interested in a more even patina, we can apply a chemical patina in our shop.
  • The patina is darker than what would occur naturally.
  • Both natural and chemical patinas will continue to evolve throughout the lifetime of the counter or bar top.

PEWTER COUNTERTOPS

Pewter countertops are a classic and elegant choice historically used in French Bistros and wine bars. A commonly used material in the Middle Ages as decorative and specialty items, pewter connotes an old-world aesthetic. Pewter is a very durable metal that will tell its story and convey its history.

BENEFITS OF BRONZE COUNTERTOPS

Bronze has been used for centuries for tools, weapons, and armor, and is known for its durability and workability. Due to its reputation and history, bronze portrays a rustic and antiqued aesthetic that adds warmth and substance to any decor.

Characteristics of Bronze Countertops:

  • Like zinc and copper, bronze has a "living" finish.
  • This finish will evolve and patina throughout the lifetime of the countertop.
  • Matte bronze is gold in color and will develop a darker brown patina.
  • We can apply a patina in our shop, which will be darker than a natural patina.

Caring for Bronze Countertops:

  • Bronze is a low-maintenance material.
  • For day to day cleaning, we recommend using Windex or any other non-abrasive household cleaner.
  • As a reactive metal, bronze will react with household chemicals and some food items.
  • Acidic foods, like lemon juice will remove the patina. Vinegar will leave dark spots and will add to the patina.

BRONZE COUNTERTOPS

Bronze counter tops are made of raw bronze sheet metals, a durable and rustic material for countertops, sinks, backsplashes, and range hoods.

COPPER COUNTERTOPS

Copper countertops add a classic and rustic look for kitchens. Known for its rich color, copper is durable and has natural anti-microbial and anti-bacterial properties, making it safe for food contact.

BENEFITS OF COPPER COUNTERTOPS

The rich, warm tone of copper is perfect for rustic or country kitchens that are looking to infuse some 'old world' charm. Its "living finish" will acquire a patina over time, which will take about a year to develop in full.

  • The penny color of matte copper will darken to a darker, brick-like color over time.
  • Areas of heavy use and traffic will appear lighter than areas that see less use.

We can also apply a chemical patina to the countertop prior to delivery and installation. This will result in a darker and more even patina than what will occur naturally, but the finish will continue to evolve over time.

Caring for copper countertops:

  • Copper is a low-maintenance material.
  • For day to day cleaning, we recommend Windex or any other non-abrasive household cleaner.
  • You can also use mild soap and water for daily maintenance.

Copper will be affected by contact with household items and foods:

  • Lemon juice or other acidic items may alter or remove the patina.
  • Vinegar will add to the patina and leave some dark spots.

Over time, the light and dark areas will blend together to create a unique "pattern of use" on the countertops.

GLASS COUNTERTOPS

BENEFITS OF FUSION GLASS COUNTERTOPS

What is fusion glass?

  • It is made by thermoforming 1/4" layers of glass in a kiln.
  • The resulting countertops can be 1/2" to 5" in thickness.
  • The kiln process is what gives fusion glass its artisanal and distinctive texture. Each top will have a unique pattern each time.

There are a number of colors, textures, and design options from which to choose when working with fusion glass. Since each piece is unique and artisan-made, we can only guarantee an approximate match. The thermoforming process makes fusion glass tops very durable. The multiple layers of glass provide structural support that allows for overhangs and curved shapes.

Fusion glass is very easy to clean and maintain:

  • Use Windex, or any other non-abrasive glass cleaner for day to day cleaning.
  • Make sure to clean up any spills or debris to prevent any drink marks or rings.
  • Some light scratches may occur; these will not affect the structural integrity of the top and should not detract from the overall appearance of the glass.

FUSION GLASS COUNTERTOP

Glass is an exciting material showing lots of "pop." A fusion glass countertop is a unique and artistic way to add style to a kitchen or bathroom. It may be lit or just reflect the daylight in the room.

REGULAR GLASS COUNTERTOPS

Often preferred by designers and architects, regular glass countertops have a modern aesthetic that can be used in almost any kitchen decor. Popular for use on kitchen island and raised bar countertops, glass is a low-maintenance surface that can be tailored to fit the homeowner's specific styles.

BENEFITS OF REGULAR GLASS COUNTERTOPS

Glass tops can be made in a number of ways. Regular glass tops will have a hit of green, which becomes more prominent depending on the thickness of the countertop. Alternatively, low-iron glass will have a water clear appearance. You may see a slight bit of green tint as the glass increases in thickness. We can also do a sandblasted finish on the glass, which gives it an opaque look.

Back-painting is a popular design option for regular glass countertops. This can be done in a number of standard color options, and we also provide custom paint color matching.

Provide us with a paint chip for us to produce a custom glass paint color match. Undermount sinks, vessel sinks, cooktops, and other hardware can be incorporated easily.

About Glass Countertops:

  • Available in thicknesses from 1/2" to 1".
  • Overhangs or cantilevers are possible.
  • Stainless steel supports or brackets are available to help support large overhangs on "floating" glass countertops.

Glass countertops are low-maintenance and durable. Day to day cleaning can be done with WIndex, or any other non-abrasive household or glass cleaner.

BENEFITS OF STANDARD PLANK WOOD COUNTERTOPS

  • Standard plank boards are thinner than those chosen for wide plank tops.
  • Boards generally measure three to five inches (3"-5") in width and are randomly selected.
  • This selection contributes to the appearance of tight knots, light grain, and pith marks that add charm to the countertop.

The countertops are sealed with a Waterlox finish. This is a water and stain resistant finish.

  • Tops require routine maintenance; use Windex or any other non-abrasive household cleaner.
  • May need to be refinished after time and use; this can be done by our skilled technicians.
